Oasis Academy Brightstowe is seeking a Lead Teacher of Science to join our thriving secondary school community from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to lead, grow, and innovate in a department full of potential.
The Role
As Lead Teacher of Science, you will:
- Lead the Science department, driving improvements in teaching, learning and outcomes
- Model outstanding classroom practice and provide mentoring and coaching to colleagues
- Deliver targeted CPD and interventions that raise attainment and close gaps
- Champion inclusive, evidence-informed teaching approaches for all learners
- Support the wider leadership team with curriculum development and strategic planning
- Be a visible and approachable leader, fostering a love of Science across the Academy
The Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has students' best interests at the heart of everything they do
- Has strong subject knowledge and a track record of outstanding teaching in Science
- Is experienced in leading Science provision and raising attainment
- Can design and deliver effective CPD, mentoring and coaching for staff
- Has knowledge of SEND and effective adaptive teaching strategies
- Builds positive, professional relationships with students and staff
- Has energy, optimism and drive, with high expectations for all learners
- Is aligned with the Oasis ethos of equity, inclusion and high aspirations
