Oasis Academy Brightstowe is seeking to appoint an innovative and enthusiastic Head of Physical Education to lead a dynamic team and continue driving forward an ambitious, inclusive PE and sport curriculum.
This is an exciting opportunity for either a current Head of PE or an aspiring leader ready to step up and shape the future of physical education in our Academy. You will be joining a passionate department committed to student progress, physical wellbeing and lifelong participation in sport and activity.
The Role
We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking Head of Physical Education to lead our committed and energetic PE team at Oasis Academy Brightstowe. This is a key leadership position within the Academy, offering the opportunity to shape the vision for physical education, sport, and wellbeing across the school. You’ll be expected to:
- Lead and manage the PE department, ensuring high-quality teaching and curriculum development across KS3 and KS4.
- Drive innovation in PE, sport, and health education, including leadership of our BTEC Sport offer.
- Champion student participation, wellbeing, and personal development through an inclusive and aspirational PE curriculum.
- Develop and expand the extra-curricular and competitive sports programme.
- Inspire both students and colleagues through excellent teaching, high expectations, and a clear commitment to lifelong health and activity.
- Contribute to whole-school initiatives and actively engage in the wider life of the Academy.

The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking someone who:
- Has a strong track record of success teaching Physical Education across KS3 and KS4.
- Brings experience of leadership or a clear readiness to step into a leadership role.
- Is passionate about sport, fitness, and student wellbeing, and sees PE as a vital part of whole-child development.
- Can lead and support a team of teachers and teaching assistants with confidence and clarity.
- Is proactive, innovative, and collaborative in their approach to curriculum and department development.
- Has the drive to build partnerships with external providers, local clubs, and sporting organisations.
- Sets high expectations for themselves, their team, and all students.
- Is aligned with the Oasis ethos and values, particularly inclusion, aspiration, and community transformation.
