Company Secretary & Governance Professional – Maternity cover

As a continually evolving organisation, operating within complex legal and regulatory frameworks, we need to ensure our Governance function continues to deliver the very best advice and guidance whilst our Company Secretary & Governance Professional is on maternity leave. We need someone to bring the right expertise, vision, influence and energy.

Reporting directly to the CEO (John Barneby), you’ll work with a Board of Trustees comprised of highly experienced and influential individuals from a range of backgrounds and experiences, within a safe environment where the Oasis Ethos and values are truly embedded and where challenge and different thinking is welcomed.

Oasis Community Learning is part of the Oasis Charitable Trust, a charity working with 40 neighbourhoods across the country to bring about lasting change; responding to structural injustice and inequality. The role of Company Secretary and Governance Professional in Oasis Community Learning will offer all the challenge of a corporate entity, including all the technical and operational intricacies you would expect at the strategic heart of the business – but with an underlying purpose that is hard to match.

What are we looking for:

There is a full job description attached but as well as relevant company secretary qualifications, you will have:

• Board clerking/governance experience

• Executive support experience: administration and clerical

• Ideally experience in the education sector or other public sector

The successful candidate will have high expectations, pay attention to detail, have good time management, with the ability to multi- task and manage conflicting priorities. You’ll bring the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals, including colleagues and outside agencies, and a strong desire to make a difference to the lives of our pupils and their communities.
