About our Deputy Payroll Manager position
You’ll oversee the payroll department whilst the National Payroll & Pensions Manager works on business-critical system projects and this is key to why the role is needed. You’re here to ensure the smooth running of the department, supporting staff and ensuring ultimately that staff across our academies and central functions get paid as they should. You’ll be our 2nd line payroll contact for all payroll queries and escalations & go to for complex payroll calculations. There’ll be scope to also assist the National Payroll & Pensions Manager with the development and integration of our new HRIS with our payroll system.

About you
You'll be a payroll specialist and someone ready to step in and support your team with any more complex cases and queries. You’ve potentially worked in a shared service environment or have a customer satisfaction mindset. You’ll know Itrent and have managed multiple payrolls previously. You’ve potentially worked in education previously or somewhere with synergies to this (think back to managing multiple payrolls). You’re a manager and enjoy supporting your team. Finally, you care and want to make sure staff are paid correctly.
Key details and what will you get in return?
Duration: This is a 6 month FTC.
Salary: £45,000
Base: Head office is in London Waterloo; and this role is truly hybrid; however for the right candidate the role can be carried out remotely. The ability to be able to get into London and meet with wider team will be vital.
Hours: 37 hours a week

Pension: Excellent opportunity to have up to 20% of your salary pa go into a pension pot.
The holiday year runs between 1st September and 31st August. If employment commences or terminates part way through a holiday year, the entitlement during that holiday year shall be calculated on a pro-rata basis rounded up to the nearest half day. Support staff have the following holiday entitlement:
• Under 2 years’ continuous service: 34 days holiday, comprising of 26 days + 8 Bank holidays.
• Under 4 years’ continuous service: 39 days Holiday, comprising of 31 days + 8 Bank holidays.
• Over 4 years’ continuous service: 40 days holiday, comprising of 32 days + 8 Bank holidays.
