Job Title: Assistant Head of Year x2

Salary: SCP 25–29, £35,235–£38,626 (pro rata)

Actual Salary: Starting from £32,578.82 per year

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

Working Pattern: 37 hours per week, Term Time Only + 2 weeks (41 weeks per year)

Location: Oasis Academy Brightstowe, Shirehampton, Bristol

Start Date: 1st September 2025 or sooner (subject to candidate availability)

We are seeking two enthusiastic, dynamic, and compassionate Assistant Heads of Year to join our highly supportive pastoral team. In this visible and rewarding role, you will work closely with students and families to ensure every young person feels seen, supported, and empowered to thrive. This is a fantastic opportunity to be a vital link in the school community, particularly for those passionate about improving outcomes for disadvantaged students.

The Role

As Assistant Head of Year, you will:

  • Support the Head of Year in delivering outstanding pastoral care and behaviour management
  • Be a key point of contact for students, parents, and external agencies
  • Help lead on attendance, wellbeing, student voice, and safeguarding within your year group
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students and act as a positive role model
  • Support restorative approaches and work closely with curriculum and SEND teams to ensure barriers to learning are addressed

  • Have excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and multitask
