Director of People & Culture
Oasis Community Learning (OCL), part of the Oasis family, is searching for an outstanding Director of People & Culture.
Oasis is one of the country’s largest Multi Academy Trusts with a portfolio of 56 academies located in some of the most disadvantaged regions across England. The overall vision for every part of Oasis is for community. A place where everyone is included, making a contribution and reaching their ultimate potential regardless of background, circumstance or label. Delivering first-class, innovative education whilst creating safe and inspiring local neighbourhoods that provide integrated and diverse services to benefit the whole person and whole community. It is an organisation that truly changes lives and provides opportunity for all. It is an organisation based on hope and belief, that recognises the richness that spiritual and cultural diversity brings to our community in providing a welcoming environment for all.
The role will focus on developing an effective and comprehensive OCL people strategy that supports and contributes to OCL's organisational goals and provides pragmatic solutions to key people issues which is foundational to the delivery of exceptional education that ensures the very best for our students and their local communities.
The Director will lead the newly developed People and Culture team, embedding the new model and ways of working, working collaboratively with the CEO, the Board and senior leaders to lead the organisation in delivering its strategic goals, vision and values. A key strand will be to drive and lead the implementation of the People Strategy, the Remarkable People workstream of strategy 2030, and drive the organisation forward as an employer of choice to ensure OCL can attract, develop and retain the best talent.
We’re seeking a proven leader with a strong track record in delivering impactful People programmes and driving strategic change. Passionate about the People Strategy and Oasis ethos, the ideal candidate will inspire teams and champion inclusive culture.
This role suits a strategic HR professional experienced in complex change, stakeholder engagement, and unionised environments—ideally within education. Leadership across diverse HR functions (ER, Talent Acquisition, L&D, Reward/Payroll, HR Ops) is essential, with influence at board level to shape policy and enhance organisational performance. Resilient and values-driven, the successful candidate will lead high-performing teams to deliver strategic goals, foster continuous improvement, and promote a culture where diversity is celebrated.
In return we shall offer an environment where wellbeing is front and centre and where our 9 habits inform every aspect of how we work, collaborate and support. You will inherit a team that is engaged, motivated and already committed to delivering a wide range of improvement initiatives. A highly capable and respected team that will respond to great leadership and clear direction. Oasis is on the cusp of great change and exciting innovations – we need a leader who is similarly enthused and inspired to embed, enhance, and drive a people strategy for the future.
So if your ambition matches ours, we would love to hear from you.
Location: committed to being a visible presence so whilst some work-from-home is possible, regular presence at head office and in our academies is required
